Apples

Galatians 6:7

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Do you know that the bible tells us that whatever we sow we will also reap? To sow means to plant seeds and to reap means to gather up the harvest of what we have planted.

If we sow apple seeds, what are we going to reap? That’s right apples. If we sow apple seeds, we won’t reap oranges, will we?

If we sow tomato seeds, what are we going to reap? That’s right we will reap tomatoes. If we plant tomato seeds, we won’t reap carrots, will we? No, we will reap what we sow.

In this verse the bible is teaching us something more important than planting seeds. It’s teaching us about our behavior.

If you’re mean and hateful to people, how do you think they will act toward you? They might be mean back to you, but they certainly won’t want to be your friend, will they? Do you like being around people who are mean and hateful? I don’t.

If you want people to like you and be your friend, how should you treat them? You should be nice and kind, shouldn’t you? If you sow kindness, you reap friends.

The bible teaches us how God wants us to behave. God want us to sow love, kindness, and honesty in our lives. If we do, we will reap God’s blessings.

Remember, we reap what we sow.

Making the Snowflake

Click the Print Resource buttton to download the pattern.

1. Print and cut out the pattern. (Some people find it easier to trace out if it’s printed on heavier paper such as cardstock.)

2. Use an 8 1/2 inch square piece of paper. Lightweight paper works best. You can use copy paper, tracing paper, parchment paper, or even the back of wrapping paper.

a. Lay the square on the table in front of you. Fold the bottom of the square up to the top and slide your finger across to form a rectangle, creasing the paper.

b. Fold the left edge of the rectangle to the right edge to make a square, creasing the paper.

c. Make a triangle by folding the right lower corner to the top left corner. The bottom point of this triangle will be the center of your snowflake.

3. Trace the pattern on your triangle, making sure to position the bottom of the pattern toward the bottom point of your triangle. (Depending on the size of your paper and tightness of the creases, the pattern may not fit exactly. Extend or shorten the lines if necessary.)

4. Cut out the snowflake with sharp scissors. The areas on the sample marked “Do Not Cut” are sections that keep the snowflake connected and must be saved.

5. Carefully unfold the paper. Mount to a background if desired.
