Football Snowflake – Armor of God

Ephesians 6:1

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Do you like football? Do you like to play football?

Have you ever noticed all the gear that football players wear?

They wear shoulder pads to help protect their shoulders and chest from being injured.

They also wear hip pads, knee pads, and thigh pads to help prevent injury.

They wear helmets to protect their heads and mouth pieces to protect their mouth and jaw.

They also have gear to help their performance.

They wear cleats. Those are special shoes that help athletes grip the ground.

They wear gloves that improve their grip for catching and carrying the ball.

Professional football players are fully suited up with both offensive and defensive gear when they go against their opponent.

Do you know that the bible teaches us that Christians have special gear too? We’re not going to dress in football uniforms. The bible tells us we should put on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the devil.

We are told to put on the belt of truth and the breastplate of Righteousness. For shoes we put on readiness given by the gospel of peace. We are to take the shield of faith to extinguish the fiery darts of the devil. We are to put on the helmet of salvation. We are to take up the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.

When we put on the full armor of God, we are ready for more than a football game. We are ready to serve God.
