Snowflake - Angel - A Savior is Born

Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

We can read about angels in many places in the bible. One of my favorite places in the bible to read about angels is at the birth of Jesus.

Caesar Agustus made a law that all the world would be taxed. They didn’t have computers back then, so that made many things more difficult. Everyone had to go to their hometown to be taxed.

Joseph was from Bethlehem, which was also called the city of David. Joseph and Mary travelled to Bethlehem, and Mary would soon give birth. When they got to Bethlehem there was no room for them to stay at the inn. The only place they could find to stay was out in a stable where they kept the animals.

That’s where Jesus was born. Mary wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger. A manger is a box they used to feed the animals. It was probably full of straw to keep baby Jesus warm.

In the same country there where shepherds watching their flocks that night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them. The glory of the Lord shone around them. They were afraid, but the angel told them not to be afraid.

The angel told them he had good news for them. A Savior was born in the city of David, which is Christ the Lord. The angel said they would find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.

Suddenly, the whole sky was filled with angels saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

The angels went back into heaven and shepherds hurried to Bethlehem. They found Mary and Joseph, and Jesus was lying in a manger just as the angels told them.
