Snowflake Star - Being Humble

John 13:4,5

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Do you see all the stars in this snowflake? I like looking up at the stars at night when it is very dark. They sparkle. They are very beautiful.

There are other kinds of stars too. We think of people who are rich and famous as stars. I know some people who always want to be stars. They always want to the center of attention. They want to have the best of everything. They want people to admire them. They want people to wait on them and do things for them.

That’s not the way Christians should behave. We should be humble. Jesus said, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant” (Matthew 13:11).

Before Jesus went to the cross to be crucified for our sins, He had a last supper with His disciples. Jesus stepped away from supper and washed the feet of all His disciples. Jesus knew that one of His disciples would betray Him. He knew that one of His disciples would deny Him. He knew that all His disciples would forsake Him (Mark 14:50). Yet Jesus washed all their feet. Jesus did that as example to them and to us.

We shouldn’t think we are better than others. Jesus wants us to serve Him by serving others.
