Snowflake - Shamrock - The Trinity

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

On St. Patrick’s Day people celebrate everything Irish. Can you see the shamrocks and the little leprechauns in the snowflake. It’s fun to talk about leprechauns and their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but it’s just a silly folk tale somebody made up.

There really was a man who was called Patrick who lived in Ireland hundreds of years ago. He used a shamrock to try to explain the Trinity. That’s why we see so many shamrock decorations on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Trinity means there is one God, but three different persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s hard for our human minds to understand, so Patrick tried to explain it with the shamrock. He said in one shamrock, there are 3 leaves, but it is still just one shamrock.

We can read in the bible about the Father and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but they are one God. The Trinity may be hard for us to understand now, but when we get to heaven, we will understand it. Until then, whenever I see a shamrock, I think of the trinity.
