Snowflake - Bell - Prayer

Bell – Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

I once saw a movie about a very rich woman. She always had a bell nearby. She would ring that bell anytime she wanted something. If she was eating dinner and wanted more bread, she would ring the bell, and a maid would bring her more bread. When sitting in front of the fireplace, she wanted some tea. She rang the bell, and a butler brought her some tea. She rang the bell again and when the butler came to her, she said she wanted her book. The butler brought her favorite book to her immediately. The lady rang the bell and immediately got anything she wanted.

I think that’s how some people look at prayer. Prayer is talking to God. Some people only talk to God when they want something. It’s like they ring the bell and expect God to bring them anything they want.

We can talk to God about things we want. That shouldn’t be the only thing we talk to God about. You wouldn’t like it if you had a friend and the only time they talked to you is when they wanted something, would you?

God isn’t a maid or a butler. We should talk to God about other things besides asking for something. We should tell Him how good He is. We should tell Him how much we love Him. We should thank Him for all the good things He has given us.

God loves us and wants to hear from us every day.
