Be Ready
A door-to-door salesman knocked on the door of a brick home in the suburbs. It was promptly answered by a nine-year-old boy. He was holding a gallon of ice cream with a spoon in it under his arm and smoking a cigar.
The salesman said, “Sonny, is your mother home?”
The boy looked him in the eye, flicked some ashes on the carpet, and said, “What do you think?”
Obviously, the boy’s mother was not home, nor was he expecting her soon, so he was trying to get away with as much as he could. That’s how some people live their lives; trying to get away with all they can, because they think no one is aware of what they’re doing. What if Jesus came to your house today? Would you be embarrassed by the things He would see, or the things He would hear you say? We should endeavor to live our lives in a manner that is always pleasing to Jesus.
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
