A dog walked into a restaurant and sat down at the counter. The owner pointed to the sign on the wall that read “No Pets Allowed.”

The dog looked at the owner and said confidently, “So who’s smoking?”

Instead of admitting that he could not read, the dog tried to fake his way through, but it really didn’t work. Many times, we try to fake our way through instead of admitting our faults or shortcomings. Instead of confessing our sins and turning away from them, we make excuses. When we are wrong, we should admit it to ourselves and to God, then endeavor to do better with His help.

Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
