Do Not Judge Others

An elderly man and his wife were watching television.

“Some ice cream sounds good, and we’re all out. Would you go to the store and pick some up?” the wife asked her husband.

“Sure,” said the man. “Anything else?”

“Some chocolate syrup. I’ll write it down for you. You know how forgetful you are.”

“No,” the husband insisted, “I can remember.”

One hour later the man came home and handed a grocery bag to his wife. It contained a dozen eggs and a quart of orange juice.

“See, I told you that I should have written you a list,” scolded the wife. “You forgot the bacon!”

This woman was very quick to point to her husband’s faults, but what about her own? Many times, we will condemn others but overlook our own sinful condition. Before trying to clean up the world, we should start by sweeping off our own back porch.

Matthew 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
