Resisting Temptation
Bob and his friend Jeff were watching an adventure movie at Bob’s house. The criminal was being chased by the police through a building. They ran up eight flights to the roof. Bullets were flying. The bad guy seemed to be trapped.
“I’ll bet ya’ a dollar he tries to jump to the roof of that other building,” said Bob.
“Okay, you’re on,” Jeff replied.
Bob won the bet, but as Jeff was getting his dollar out, Bob had a change of heart.
“No Jeff. I can’t take your money. I just saw this movie last night. I knew he was going to jump.”
“Oh, that’s okay,” insisted Jeff. “I saw it too. I just didn’t think he’d be stupid enough to try it again.”
Does your life ever feel like a rerun? You do something you shouldn’t do. Then you’re sorry and vow never to do it again. Before you know it, there you are again doing the same old thing. We must learn to resist temptation. It is a difficult thing to do for the young and old, but with God on our side, we can be strong. He loves us and will help us. He will forgive us.
